Multimedia - digital photography, photogram, cyanotype 2026
Presence and absence share a special relationship. Sometimes, the pair dances together, soft fingers delicately intertwined; sometimes the two circle each other with teeth bared and fists raised; and sometimes—at the right time, in the right light—they become one and the same.
This piece considers the intricate affair between presence and absence through photographic representations of imprints and leftovers. The project grows out of my curiosities: How do we know when something is missing? Can we be present in a place where we are not? When does presence end, and absence begins?
