Blood Money is a response to the violence of racial capitalism. This work is part of a series that attempts to capture the visceral rage and grief that is felt by so many in our capitalistic society. Corporate greed amidst these discriminatory and racist systems have devastating effects, especially on marginalized groups. The wealthy have power and control, allowing them to exploit the labor of disadvantaged people. This painting embodies the resulting blood shed, which spans from the oppression of immigrant laborers, whose backs this country was built upon, to the lives lost at the hands of police.
My work adheres to the theme because the artwork reveals the violence of capitalism and is especially relevant because billionaires are becoming more and more involved with politics.
