My work aimed to capture Mexican culture and celebrate it. I think art showing the very real community that is being currently villified is a form of protest in itself (especially with so many stereotypes being perpetuated as of late). With images and stories of deportations circulating in the news at the moment, I wanted to make something that inspired hope and warmth to the viewer and show moments of connection that my community gave me growing up, including the incredible resilience it has. I thought about community, multi-generational bonding, food as a connector, and took inspiration from East Los Angeles murals and Olvera Street. @bella.art04 @thatoneonionring
