This piece is based off of General Idea’s “Manipulation of the Self” project and writings. I wanted to expand on this concept through a self portrait and experiment with framing, image, and color. I’m interested in this idea of holding while also being held being contained within yourself and the body. This is the second self portrait I’ve made that uses this pose and this iteration feels more natural as I continue to explore texture, abstraction, and balance in my pieces.
